The blast resistant tilt and turn aluminium window is a purpose-made module, suitable for installation into a punched or prepared openings. The window sections combine the versatility of aluminium create a functional yet aesthetically pleasing window. The windows are available in turn only mode for secondary glazing

The window will primarily fulfil the requirements of a thermally broken wind and weather resistant glazing system, with the additional security benefits of blast resistance.

Product Advantages

The blast resistant window system through innovative design and the use of composite materials, allows clients and architects the ability to incorporate glazing into very high risk elevations of buildings. This product performs all the standard functions of modern windows necessary to comply with current building regulations and allows for creative architectural design.

The blast resistant window system will give clients the ability to create large openable areas of natural light within the building including open plan corridor areas and offices. The system can be used in areas of high occupancy and escape routes to afford protection to staff and members of the public.

The system is designed to be used for both primary and secondary glazing depending on the site conditions and can be over clad with timber to accommodate architectural detailing. 

Product Construction

The blast window profiles are extruded from aluminium and incorporate multiple chambers for insert sections and cabling.

Outer frames and sash are mitre cut and jointed using specially designed cleats.

Transoms have notched ends to ensure an easily weather-proofed joint can be provided between mullion and transom.

The system is zone drained and provision is made to drain water out of the transom at regular intervals.

The 35mm deep glazing rebate can accommodate glass up to 44mm thick and is gasket glazed.All brackets for this system are a standard design and can be adapted to suit the existing building fabric and architectural requirements.

Materials

Aluminium profiles are extruded from aluminium alloy 6060T6, complying with the recommendations of BS EN 12020-2/BS EN 755-Parts 1 to 9

The range of sections can be provided in the following finish:

Powder organic coated to BS 6496 or BS EN 12206-1

Where required, a different colour/finish can be provided internally and externally.
