Blast 86x115 Curtain Wall

Blast 86x115 Curtain Wall

The 86 x 115 Curtain wall, is a Blast resistant low rise curtain wall system, suitable for single storey facades and ribbon glazing. This high performance counter terrorism product is designed to provide blast protection and dissipate the effects of the pressure waves. This glazing system combines the benefits of high quality finished aluminium extruded profiles with the strength of steel to retain the glass in the frame, in the event of an explosion.

The system has been designed to ensure that the client does not have to compromise their architectural creativeness, in the pursuit of protecting life and assets.

1Product Advantages

The 86 x 115 curtain wall has exceeded the standards set for high security buildings, and can withstand the detonation of a vbied (vehicle borne improvised explosive device) of 100kg at 20 metres. The 86 x 115 curtain wall, through innovative design and the use of composite materials, allows clients and architects the ability to incorporate glazing into very high risk elevations of buildings. This product performs all the standard functions of modern curtain walling necessary to comply with current building regulations and allows for creative architectural design.

The 86 x 115 curtain wall will give clients the ability to create areas of natural light within the building including open plan reception areas and offices. The system can be used in areas of high occupancy and escape routes to afford protection to staff and members of the public.

The system is designed to be used for both primary and secondary glazing depending on the site conditions and can be over clad with timber to accommodate architectural detailing.

2Product Construction

The 86 x 115 curtain wall profiles are extruded from aluminium and incorporate multiple chambers for insert sections and cabling.

Mullions are square cut and jointed using specially designed jointing spigots.

Transoms have notched ends to ensure an easily weather-proofed joint can be provided between mullion and transom.

The system is mullion drained and provision is made to drain water out of the mullion at regular intervals.

The 35mm deep glazing rebate can accommodate glass up to 76mm thick and is gasket glazed. All brackets for this system are a bespoke design dependant on the existing building fabric and architectural requirements.

The suite of profiles include flat and indented cover caps, flush and stepped transoms, brise soleil brackets and glazed in vents

3Materials
