2012: Year in Review


As the year draws to a close, Windell are proud to look back and reflect on the achievements of the year. We have successfully completed landmark projects for Emirates Air Line; British Embassy Khartoum; HMP Maghaberry and Farringdon Station. We are actively working on innovative solutions for DFID Bangladesh; Nicolson Institute; British Embassy Jakarta and the Canadian Chancery in Beirut. Farringdon is due to become an important interchange station between the two largest transport infrastructure programmes currently under way in London, the Thameslink and Crossrail. After the completion of Crossrail, Farringdon will be one of the country's busiest stations by number of trains passing through and the only station where passengers can change between Crossrail and Thameslink. To serve these extra passengers a new building, housing a dedicated ticket hall, has been constructed to the immediate south of the current station, which itself has been upgraded as part of the programme. With a strong reputation and extensive previous experience of supplying both the Ministry of Defence and the Police Service of Northern Ireland with prefabricated high security guardhouses, Windell were approached and invited to submit a proposal for the design, manufacture and supervised installation of a blast and ballistic resistant guardhouse for the Canadian Chancery in Lebanon.  Windell were successful in winning the contract based on being the most cost competitive bidder.  The guardhouse will be designed and built by our expert fabrication team in our state of the art, specialist manufacturing facility, and transported to the site in Lebanon for installation.  The final handover for this project is scheduled...

The FCO regard the aim of their diplomatic mission to Sudan as the opportunity to ‘help develop a Sudan at peace with itself and its neighbours, meeting the needs and aspirations of its people’.
